As Time Ticks …

August 22nd, 2008 by autumn-pie

22nd Aug 2008.

Things that happened today:

1) Had a great lunch with ex-collegues in a shabby food court. Companion and laughter matters!

2) Rushing to leave the office by 4. Yay … raining!!!

3) My dear buddy introduces Malaysia Latin Dance Champion who eventually hugged me good-bye. Melted instantly….

4) Having best buddies & friends meeting up together. Unexplained chemistry of such a long and close relationship.

5) Watched "The Dark Knight". Manage to watch this movie before it’s out of the list.

6) The day ended with a good-bye hug. So long my buddy … till we meet again .. erm .. perhaps next year??!!??

7) Rushing to pack my luggage when your friend is on the way (tomorrow).

You made me a Smiling Star.

Wasn’t feeling good lately.

No motivation to do a single thing, hairdo sucks, life sucks, everything seems getting out of the way.

A month back, I spent about 200 bucks ( Malaysian Ringgit la ) at a salon in 1U for a haircut + hair-spa; and it didn’t turn out as I expected. What a big turn down for me :((. I swear I’m not going back to this salon again and will not let any female hairstylist to do my hair! I do not rule out the possibility of any good female hairstylists (like Alice from Miko) but I just don’t have the confidence in them anymore. I love Alice but she’s just too far from where I stay now.

Today.

The salon receptionist confirms my appointment with my stylist , Eddie @ 6pm today. If my memory and calculation tally, this is the 3rd or 4th visit to this salon. I would only allow Eddie to cut my hair whenever I pay a visit to this salon.

Why??

Simple. He makes me happy. For 55 bucks, I’m getting :

1) a haircut which makes me look like a STAR. Even my buddy said I look like a Korean star when he picked me up for dinner.

2) he understands me, my needs.

3) we joke and laugh.RM 55 for 1 hour laughter - worth it.

4) we are now friends.

5) a good retail theraphy.

I just love him. :D.

And I left the salon with a broad smile on my face @ 7pm.

Someone told me I didn’t update my blog for quite some time. As you wish, a blog item without a title.

Already 6 months passed, I have moved on and I thought I could leave my memories behind. Never do I realised I love what I was doing previously than what I’m doing right now. Satisfaction … this is what I’m looking for. The more I wanted to put my feelings down, the more I embrace it. Feeling trapped emotionally!!

There’s so many things around me to settle … and I’m tired.

The End of 2007

December 17th, 2007 by autumn-pie

Gotto gear up to update my last entry for 2007.

Life has been plain but without His blessing, life could be worst. Took a major decision by leaving the company I’ve served for almost 3-years and now … taddah … in ExxonMobil.

I’m trying to adapt to this new environment and hopefully work-wise is getting better and life is more balanced.

Biological Clock

November 11th, 2007 by autumn-pie

I admit I’m a sleepy pig.Despite having 3 alarm clocks that buzzes at different timestamp and snoozes every 10 mins, at times I still can not wake up. My mind is COMPLETELY shutdown.

So blessed am I that someone called to wake me up on early Saturday morning for divine services. A voice that is so familiar when I was younger and it feels so comfortable the person calls.

I made it for the service … 1 day !

What will happen to our kids in future??

An excerpt:

"Malaysia completely out of THES-QC 200 Top Universities Ranking - a national shame Malaysia has fallen completely out of the list of the world’s Top 200 Universities this year in the 2007 Times Higher Education Supplement (THES)-Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. This is a national shame, especially as occurring during the nation’s 50th Merdeka anniversary and it must serve as the latest warning to the national leaders to end their complacency and delusion that Malaysia is becoming more competitive globally when the reverse is actually the case. Last year, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Malaya (UM) were listed at the tail-end of the Top 200 in the THES-QS ranking, and I had repeatedly warned both in and out of Parliament that Malaysia risks being pushed out of the 200 Top Universities ranking unless there is the political will to check brain-drain and restore meritocracy and excellence to Malaysian academia. It gives me no satisfaction but extreme sadness to see my dire prediction come true! UKM was ranked 185th last year, up from 289th spot in 2005, but has now fallen to 309th place. For UM, once the nation’s premier university, it is a sorry tale of continuous decline. It was ranked among the world’s top 100 universities in 2004 at 89th position, fell to 169th in 2005 and 192nd placings in 2006, and is now out of the Top 200 league, having fallen to 246th spot! Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), which was ranked as the only “outstanding” five-star university in a recent government survey, has fallen to 307th spot from 277 last year. In 2005, USM was in the 326th spot. It is pathethic that the reaction from the University of Malaya Vice Chancellor Datuk Rafiah Salim is just one of excuses as to why UM had been thrown out of the top 200 Top Universities league rather than a commitment to check the decline and restore the nation’s former premier university to its previous repute as one of the world’s top universities . Rafiah attributes UM’s poor placing to the new methodology used to calculate rankings this year, pointing out that “Even the National University of Singapore (NUS) has dropped to the 33rd spot when it was within the top 10”. Rafiah is right that NUS has dropped in this year’s ranking but wrong in saying that NUS was “within the top 10” last year. NUS was ranked No. 19 last year and has dropped to No. 33 – a fall of 14 placings. In contrast, UM has dropped 54 places. Even more pertinent, UM at 246th spot is now 213 places behind NUS (No. 33)! Why is this so when both universities had started off on almost the same footing half-a-century ago? Despite the use of a new methodology in calculating the ranking this year, Singapore has been able to maintain two universities in the Top 200 list – NUS at No. 33 and Nanyang Technological University at 69th, while Malaysia’s two universities in the Top 200 list last year had been edged out completely. "

Why is this so?

Da sistas in Cameron

September 1st, 2007 by autumn-pie

http://picasaweb.google.com/princess.mondstern/070728CameronHighlands

Headed up to Cameron Highlands from KL with Ivy on a rainy Saturday. For sure, we had great time catching up with each other and having steamboat after a rainy day.

On the same arriving day, we had drinks at Cameron Highland Resort after a walk at the nite market. Photo-taking was prohibited in the bar and only some photos were taken in the ladies.

Before heading to Ipoh on Sunday, we went for flowers, vege and tea.Mummy told me to get her some cherry tomatoes.

The only thing I got for myself is straw-berries. One for mom and one for buddy.

Sungai Palas Tea Plantation is a nice place for tea and it’s worth the pain driving the long-dangerous-narrow-and-dwindling road.

Life is good and it will be better.
